You're probably reading this because you've heard about this term called "Online Shopping" and you'd like to know if you're missing out of anything important. Being Malaysian, we have to be ahead of the curve you see, so if there's a better way to do something, then we have to know about it and take advantage!
If you've been keeping up, you'll know there's a growing trend in traditional retail outlets losing money with more and more businesses taking to the web to engage in bartering their products to customers in exchange for money (I think the term is called Sales?).

You don't have to look very far to see this in effect. Singapore has started to experience the crunch as businesses are pulling out causing retail space rental prices to fall. Our very own Parkson Group here in Malaysia have reported continued losses due to the growth of the online retail industry.
So seriously, what's all the fuss about? Why are more and more people going online, and is it really a better option for you as a consumer? Let's be a bit kepochi and find out for ourselves...
Where else can you do shopping, even at midnight, wearing your pajamas? You don't have to deal with packed parking lots and large crowds. You don’t have to wait in a line or wait till the shop assistant helps you with your purchases. You can do your shopping in minutes even if you are busy!
Apart from saving time and avoiding crowds, online shops give us the opportunity to shop 24x7 which - let's face it - really is the Malaysian way.
The Malaysian Way
Let's be honest here. Just between you and me, we both know this is the one thing we really care about. If I can save 50 sen on my Nasi Lemak by driving 10 extra KM, I will do it. Why? Refer to previous point on the Malaysian way.
The good news for us is online shopping feeds that appetite we have for the best bargains. Remember what we were saying earlier about retail space rental prices? Online stores don't have to deal with that which means they get to transfer their savings directly to you. This could be in the form of lower prices or even great offers like free shipping. On a completely different topic, did you know that FurryMob.com offers free shipping on all purchases over RM150?
But besides, lower prices, you also save on incidentals. Think of the petrol and parking money you save. And of course if you go to a mall, you have to spend money on a nice meal because otherwise what's the point of driving all the way there?
All in all, shopping online let's you spend your RM where it really matters and saves you all other incidental costs - which means you get more money to go eat somewhere nice at the end of the month... maybe at a mall?

Ever walk into a store wanting to buy something but they don't have the exact same thing you want? Ever compromise on what you wanted so you could get something else instead? Ever look at yourself in the mirror when you realise you just bought something you didn't really want in the first place?
Well online shopping saves you from that regret by giving you tons of options from different sites to choose from. You can compare different varieties of products, prices and then weigh other factors in like shipping costs so that you end up with exactly the right product for you at the right price!
...like this guy...
So now you know what all the fuss is about, why not make your first purchase online and see how good it makes you feel? You don't really want to miss out on that great deal just around the corner do you?
